Why is it so sub-par?

Georgia is supposedly the Empire State of the South, but the outlets that cover UGA sports in this state imo are the most aggressively average you'll find anywhere.

Take Dawgnation for instance. I dare you to form a more unlikeable/unrelatebale cast in all of media. They are terrible.

And this is 2021. Where we are suppose to have info at our finger tips 24/7. My go-to podcasts etc are all in other states that focus primarily on other teams. Would be nice to have a UGA centric program that covered the rest of the SEC as well.

WTF. Thanks Atlanta

What podcasts are you listening to? Most of the sports podcasts I listen to just regurgitate the same old talking points without really talking about anything interesting. My God a Podcast is fun to waste time with while at work but they are usually a few days off the news and by that time everything has been talked about. And the DawgCast is trying to be more reliable with their shows coming out weekly but Jamie is such a homer he’s scared to talk the truth about the players or staff. I used to really like Dude you Crazy podcast but they quit a few seasons back. And Bernies Dawg Blog was interesting to read but he also quit writing about UGA.

Fall camp starts this week, we play Clemson 5 weeks from today. Players have been practicing with each other (no coach) for weeks. We have transfers coming in to compete. Lot of recruiting visits and commitments over the summer. Big SEC news with OU and Texass. Could easily have been doing a once a week Podcast the last few weeks filled up 2-3 hours of content a week, with mostly UGA stuff and some SEC stuff thrown in. Then move to 3 times a week starting this week with camp underway.

I watched UGASportsLive and Dawgnation Daily today. I also caught a short one from DawgPost today.

3 dawg podcasts today.

Content is out there. But it is the offseason. Talking points are conference expansion, clemson, and visits. It is what it is in july.

Probably the most seismic off-season in the history of the sport. But it’s either crickets or buffoon takes from the lazy uninsightful UGA beat

Meanwhile over in Birmingham Alabama alone, there’s FM radio that talks college football from 6am to 10pm 365 days a year. Their shows are bama/auburn centric obviously, but you’ll still get as much uga and sec content as you would from the once a week Dawgnation laptop camera douche conference cast

I agree with you about atlanta radio.
It is practically the nfl network sprinkling in the other professional sports. But that isnt anything new to bitch about.

But podcasts exist for that reason.

Atlanta radio is as invisible to me as ESPN is. It simply doesn’t exist.

And not to beat up on Atlanta but if you take away that shithole, this is still a traditional Southern state. And there is a huge market here for college football UGA talk. I just don’t understand why someone isn’t leading the way here and I have to listen to Alabama shows to get uga talk

I did listen to finebaum for first time oyears this week though to learn about the greed expansion. And it was actually very good on the topic

Pro tip: they post each hour of the show on Spotify now after it’s done on sec network. So you can listen without commercials. Also you can use the 15 second fast forward button when guy from Buffalo NY calls in to ask Paul which sec state he should transplant to

On google podcast, i add waitin sincd last saturday, Georgia Bulldawgs Extra, classic city sports, georgia bulldawgs (official radio podcast), pawdcast, junkyard dawgcast, locked on georgia bulldawgs, and the dawgcast.

Let me know if there is anything i should add.

Chuck oliver has a good app, southern sports today. It is basically his radio program.

I have glory uga podcast, before the hedges, and dawginsider on soundcloud.

The different ones would be

Brooks austin (lots of player review: both existing and recruits). Also has takes on college football with a player slant

Chuck oliver/punt and pass/ 247 late kick cut. These are essentially SEC/college football podcasts. Not uga centric. Not a uga audience. That makes them different than uga podcasts.

Waitin since last saturday. Closer to your gentry/seth perspective with what media sees/thinks.

Locked on. It is basically a comedic, dont take selves serious at all take inside a uga fans perspective. They dont make fun of insider/media takes. But they are kind of the antimedia.

I don't know why you have to be so negative.

Answer this. Pretend there's some popular college football radio show out in Texas, and the show hosts want to have an expert guest on from Georgia to preview the upcoming UT UGA game. They want someone who talks UGA sports all day everyday on a popular and entertaining podcast similar to what they do for UT. Who do they call?

UGA specific:

Get the Picture blog
Junkyard Dawgcast (247)
DawgSports Live (Rivals)
Waitin Since Last Saturday

National:
Cover3 Podcast
Andy Staples Show

Everything else is subpar or unoriginal. DawgNation Daily is good when I’ve exhausted all other options and want something to zone out to while mowing the yard.

Birmingham consumes more college football television than any other city in the country. Atlanta, in the other hand, has such wildly divided interests because of the transient population that radio can’t appease anyone. I tend to listen to ESPNU radio on XM exclusively come July (once college baseball, NBA draft, softball, etc is no longer a primary talking point)

During the season I try to listen to the JOX roundtable out of Birmingham. IN fact, they recently quit WJOX to start up their own digital platform, so starting some time in August, you'll be able to get it on demand in podcast or live on YouTube and all the rest. New name is "The Next Round Live".

It's not for everyone, especially if you can't handle Alabama/auburn talk, but they thoroughly cover the entire SEC and all of college football. Just three Joe schmoe college football junkies but with the talent it takes to pull off a radio show and they have all the contacts with coaches, players, SEC media heavy hitters that come on as guests.

Just a good way to learn about other teams, so you enjoy our games more. And also to get the latest on whatever the story of the day or week is

Been doing JOX pick 3 for the last 5 years or whatever. Earned some balls in the bucket but have not won the prize yet. Pretty fun. Pick 3 teams to beat the spread and get balls into the bucket for a drawing

Pick 3, Pick 3. It's time for the Pick 3.
3 for you and 3 for me.
It's time for the Pic 3

Nice. Yeah, when it comes to the joys of college football season, that show is a big part of it for me. Keeps the excitement going all week in between games

I found those guys like 15 years ago when it was just Dunaway and Brown on an AM station you could pick up here. They did like 6 hours a day

In fact, this is the whole point of the thread basically. Georgia needs a show like this.
