They’ve never been in a conference they needed more than the conference in question needed them before.

They aren’t ever going to be able to dictate terms and it sounds like they’ve already got a few votes presumptively against them in whatever they want to do in A&M/Arky/Missou based on how paranoid y’all are about them.

They may help getting the SEC offices moved out of Birmingham though, which would be nice.

You're missing the point of my reply. I'm not arguing to keep them out. The person I responded to said all you had to do to keep Texas "under wraps" was beat them. The Big 12 has been beating them like a red-headed stepchild for the better part of a decade, but that didn't improve their programs' standing within the conference or their bargaining power. Nor did it humble the Texas administration in any way, shape, or form.

I agree they won't have the pull the had in the SWC or the Big 12. Hence why I said I'm not against them joining. The point was that "just beat them" isn't a valid response when addressing the concerns of adding Texas as a conference member.

The problem is they don’t realize that. Which maybe doesn’t matter.
