I believe you're another simpleton who looks at the population of a state and assumes that population all watch the college team that resides in that state, which is adorable.

It seems that you are the one doing that with regards to the state of Oklahoma. Does every single person in Oklahoma watch the Sooners? Of course not. There are many more potential eyes to watch games in North Carolina and Virgina. They have a total population of almost 20 million people combined. They are the 9th and 12th most populous states. Oklahoma has fewer than 4 million and ranking 28th. That is fewer than all other SEC footprint states except for Arkansas and Mississippi. There is only one media market in the top 50 for Oklahoma (Oklahoma City at 43rd). North Carolina and Virgina have four that tank higher that OKC. Oklahoma brings very little.

Regardless of North Carolina's and Virginia's population, those states are more about professional sports than college football.

Have you ever watched a Hokie or Tar Heel football game? Very boring and dull football, even on their best days.

OU is a blue blood, Texas has the population and produces the most NFL talent, and the SEC just can't pass up two historical football powers for VA and NC schools.

Missouri has a larger population than OK and guess what, its all about the Blues, Cardinals, Chiefs, Royals. Mizzou is another brand of boring football that proves population doesn't matter.
