So does that mean they would buyout the remaining rights or wait until 2025

Neither. This is the first formal shot that will set off the scramble for other schools, especially in the Big 12, to look for new homes. It’s a brilliant strategy by OU and TU. As soon as two more B12 schools announce their moves, the B12 collapses and OU and TU move on to the SEC next year.

Have to imagine Big 12 folds rather rapidly with this now being official.

Yes most likely they will not wait for 2025, they will buy their way out sooner...the people that downvoted you don't have a clue...

I know nothing about how this works but that’s not going to stop me from spitballing a bit.

I would guess that at this point we aren’t putting a timeline on it. I am sure the SEC will demand a timeline soon but in the meantime we can wait a bit after this announcement to see what happens in the Big 12. If it completely implodes we may be able to just walk away soon. If the rest remains intact then we may either have to buy it out or stay in a few years longer if the SEC allowed that.

I am guessing there will be a game of chicken being played out over the short term. Other Big 12 schools may have to make a move soon.
