The only other realistic option is getting rid of divisions, each team gets 3 permanent rivals, the remaining 12 teams are rotated every other year which means playing 9 conference games. Then you take the top 2 teams in the standings with whatever tie breakers need to be set in place and they go to Atlanta. This set up keeps traditional rivals and you play every team Home and Away every 4 years.

Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee, LSU
Arkansas: Missouri, Texas, Texas A&M
Auburn: Alabama, Georgia, Miss St
Florida: Georgia, LSU, South Carolina
Georgia: Auburn, Florida, South Carolina
Kentucky: Miss St., Tennessee, Vanderbilt
LSU: Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss
Miss St.: Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss
Missouri: Arkansas, Oklahoma, South Carolina
Oklahoma: Missouri, Texas, Texas A&M
Ole Miss: LSU, Miss St., Vanderbilt
South Carolina: Florida, Georgia, Missouri
Tennessee: Alabama, Kentucky, Vanderbilt
Texas: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M
Texas A&M: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas
