Alabama Swimmers Earn a Trio of 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District IV At-Large Honors
A trio of Alabama swimmers earned a spot on the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District IV At-Large teams the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
Morgan Liberto, Derek Maas and Nicholas Perera all earned the accolade for the second time and all three earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 2021 and now move on to this year's national Academic All-America At-Large ballot.
Unlike the other Academic All-America teams which represent a single sport, the at-large programs spans several men's and women's sports. The women's at-large team includes beach volleyball, bowling, rowing, field hockey, fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo, while the men include fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo, volleyball and wrestling. Each school is also limited to just four men and four women nominees.
Liberto, an All-American, graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's in public administration in May through Alabama's Accelerated Master's Program, maintaining a 4.0 GPA in both courses of study.
Maas, an All-American and SEC Champion, graduated with a 4.0 GPA in biology on the premed trackin May. Perera, also an All-American, earned his undergraduate 4.0 GPA in mechanical engineering.
