The Bo "picks" Myth
Posted on 7/8/21 at 10:17 am

in 26 games played Bo Nix has only thrown 13 INTs with a 6.5/yr avg., before the UGA game in 2020 Bo hadnt thrown a INT since the 2019 LSU game. Bo Nix lead the conference in most attempts without a INT coming into 2020.
Meaning Bo is not the interception machine, people claim him to be.
To put this in perspective in 2 games, vs SC 2020 and UF 2019, Bo Nix threw 6 combined Ints, but threw only 7 picks in his 24 other games played.
Also another crazy stat, Bo Nix has thrown only 1 Int at home in his entire career at Auburn, his 12 other INTs came on the road.
Starting College QBs who have thrown more picks in their 1st 2 years than Bo Nix:
Kyle Trask
Kellen Mond
Chris Leak
John Parker Wilson
Matt Corral
Tim Couch (18 ints in his starting year)
Colt McCoy
Colt Brennan
Carson Palmer
Ken Dorsey
Jim Kelly
John Elway
Ty Detmer
list goes on, im pretty sure none of these QBs had the "Interception Machine" moniker.

Its not that serious, my man

I already knew his completion % was garbage, but this just tells me he's so inaccurate that the defense can't even get a hand on the ball
Cool brag I guess?

SN: I am not comparing Bo Nix to any of the QBs mentioned in the OP, and i dont assume him to be a great all time QB.

He isn't a good QB, and Auburn isn't a good team. He will throw some picks and some TD's and Auburn will go 6-6 in 2021.

They sound dumb saying a lot of things. Sometimes you have to let it go. This thread certainly won't change a troll's mind.
I should take my own advice.

Unfortunately for Auburn, he's gonna have to play some games on the road.

This is a pretty strange post. Is your point that other guys have thrown INTs in addition to Nix? Ok, agreed.
You should probably compare him to guys from the same era, so I would leave out players such as Couch, Elway, Kelly, etc.
The better measure is INTs per attempt, he is probably comparable to some other guys on your list.
If you want to compare him to Kellen Mond, that seems fair. Both show some ability but also look terrible at times.

During the process of compiling this and then typing it out, does it not ever cross your mind that you might be doing too much for something so trivial.
He is a terrible quarterback, he throws some interceptions, his last name rhymes with "picks". Its that simple.

Whats even more crazy as great as UGA and LSU DBs are Nix only has 2 INTs in the 4 combined games vs their secondary.
1 vs UGA in 2020
0 vs LSU in 2020
1 vs LSU in 2019
0 vs UGA in 2019
1 vs UGA in 2020
0 vs LSU in 2020
1 vs LSU in 2019
0 vs UGA in 2019

while that maybe True, Bama has won a title with QBs with far worse stats than him in the early saban era.

Interceptions are pretty random in a small sample size and are only one indicator of a QB's ability. Regardless, I don't hold anything against Nix for throwing some INTs as a freshman starting QB in the SEC.

OK.. you have to be his brother or something to care this much.
Let me help you out.
They called Johnny Manziel "Johnny Football". I will work on a listing of stats that proves that, IN FACT, there are several others who have also played the game of football. So why call him that?
It might take me a while...

He’s good at getting rid of the ball instead of INTs but he does so in an ugly, unorthodox fashion. I really feel bad for the fans thinking that he’s their best option when he dumps it to avoid a sack, a style I’ve never witnessed.

I for one am absolutely stunned that SEC fans would come up with an obvious nickname like Bo Picks to mock the mediocre starting QB at Auburn named Bo Nix.

He threw one more as a sophomore. The problem is that he regressed after his freshman year.
Whether or not Bobo and Harsin can "fix" him remains to be seen.

Yep.

He was definitely our best option last year and that's the problem.

There was a lot of hype that came with Nix to AU and trying to get another quality QB to sign became very difficult.
JMO but Nix got away with a lot in HS (his father allowed) with his hero plays but that hasn't worked so well at AU.
Perhaps Bobo and Harsin can get him playing better. He sure looks the part then again we all (QB's) looked like Joe Willie until the ball was snapped.
