That guy tried to rob State, TBH
That guy was terrible for both sides. Not taking anything away from Bednar or Sims, because Texas wasn’t going to hit either one of them last night. And even with a perfect umpire behind the dish, Miss St would’ve won the game regardless and finished with a gaggle of strikeouts either way.

But the home plate umpire last night could not establish a consistent strike zone for any of the 9 innings. Gave Madden, Bednar and Sims some gracious calls (like the 8th-inning strike 2 above Hodo’s letters) and then robbed Sims of what was clearly strike 3 vs Melendez that was called “low”, which would’ve ended the game.

Just all around bad. CWS deserves better than that guy. That was teetering on irresponsible by that umpire at times

Yep. Garbage umpiring for both sides.

How do you feel about the level of play in the Big 12? Would you say it is good enough to get you ready for the post season or iffy? I thought some of those teams were better than they looked but none made Omaha

Yeah, the Sims miss was probably the most egregious but he was bad for both teams.
