Appropriate use of the Ric flair?

In baseball, at some point the Ric flair "whoooooo" started. I always was under the impression that it started when an opposing pitcher tried to throw out a runner on first too many times effectively stalling the game, but it is so widespread now, I may be misremembering how it started. Can someone remind me what the original use was?

I think Auburn did it from their dugout in a series at Baum a few years ago whenever they got a hit and our fans started doing it sarcastically back to them whenever something good happened for us and it stuck

TCU started it during the super regionals in Ft Worth like 10 years ago. At least that's the first I ever heard it.. And it wasn't a Ric Flair thing from what I remember. It was just and annoying as chant they did.
It was scoring then and it's still annoying today...

The proper Baum Stadium™ use is on a wild throw by the pitcher of any kind, including when shown on replays immediately after the initial throw

GoHogs141 is correct on when it started @Arkansas. I was at the game. Zero reason to continue doing it and now it is just annoying.

The original and proper use at Baum is by an opposing pitcher throwing wild.
With new fans at Baum, also comes the lack of understanding. People hear it on tv and think it’s supposed to be done whenever.
Call me old school, but it annoys the frick out of me and especially at Baum when some arse clown starts the Ric Flair “Woo” when we are pitching.

thats why i ask. ive been going to baseball games for a long time, but couldnt for the life of me remember where it started. i felt like it was always to screw with the opposing pitcher, but couldnt remember in what original context. it is certainly over-used now

I believe it's appropriate to use anytime we are stylin' and/or profilin'.

It seems that someone isn't a limousine-riding, jet flying, kiss stealing, wheeling n dealing son of a gun.
To each their own.
