Georgia Tech burned their SEC bridge in 1963 when they got greedy and left the conference. Worst mistake they ever made.

Clemson could have been a possibility but I guess USCe was/is the flagship U in SC thus they were invited instead.

Florida would never let Free Shoes U in so that was a moot point.

Arkansas was a logical pick even though the location is the farthest distance away from anyone else in the conference (prior to A&M and Mizzou being invited).

Otherwise the SEC is not going to add another school in a state where it already has a footprint.

So the only logical future possibilities are NC, VA or OK. If they decide to go to 16 teams. Probably doubtful at this point but you never know.

Florida sponsored FSU's membership like a half dozen times and the SEC always said no. When the SEC was finally ready to say yes, FSU ran and hid like bitches. Piss on em.

The state of SC does not have a public university system similar to Georgia.

SC-Columbia is only the flagship for the University of South Carolina colleges. Clemson has no affiliation.
