The Alabama defense by that time was better than its counterpart. LSU still scores a ton of points, but here's the difference. you could get to Joe Burrow. Alabama sacked him 5 times in 2019 and knocked him down some more. They were behind big and got stops to get back in.

The Alabama O Line in 2020 was likely the best unit Alabama has ever fielded. Mac Jones was seldom hurried and when he was he was very good at buying time. You didn't get to him and they were road graders when they decided to run it, and they had the best RB in the country to give it to.

Jones would have time and he would do to LSU what he did to everyone else. Pick them apart. Then late those monsters would pound them to dust. Bama would get a stop or two and there's your difference.
