The latest update on Coleman Coliseum from Alabama deputy AD Jeff Purinton in a interview broadcast to ticket holders and donors Tuesday evening: “[It’s] a top priority. We’re exploring all of our options there."

“Obviously [COVID] kind of threw a wrench into our plans in terms of the phases. But we’re gonna explore our options there and I’m sure we’ll come up with a good plan to move forward.”

Purinton said the “Crimson Standard” fundraising campaign has raised $415M of its $600M goal.

Auburn spent 86M on their new arena so we should have plenty of money to build a new one.

Pro - Raised $415M of $600M in the middle of COVID stuff.

Con - "exploring options and coming up with a plan" is not exactly we're about to get started on things type language.

This is probably an unpopular opinion on here but I would rather have Coleman totally renovated rather than a teardown and build back. I hate the idea of having to play somewhere else while Oats has this program cooking.

Revamp Coleman with new scoreboards, bring the seating closer, and maybe even eliminate some seats. Redo the seating chart and get the students as close to the floor as possible to actually get some home mojo going. It can look totally brand new inside while not having to tear it all down. Use the rest of that money to continue improving facilities (and keep some in the banks for the next Oats extension).
