Yep. Totally agree with all of that. It happened every single year. You'd read about the kids we were recruiting and it'd be like 4-5 guys even though we had 4 spots to fill. Then we'd sign 2 of them, one guy on the team would transfer out of the blue, and we'd find ourselves down 2+ scholarships with no clear backup plan for filling them. A big reason Oats is such a good recruiter on top of his having a well defined set of characteristics he is looking for in players is the fact that he casts a very wide net. So if something doesn't work out he's not left holding the bag out in the rain.
