Idk. I mean I know we were going after Boogie and Zoom but Philon definitely should’ve been a priority. He seemed more interested in Auburn than us. Committed to them and then committed to Kansas when that went left without giving us a real look.

We shouldn’t ever be passing on in state prospects that Kansas and Baylor want.

It seemed to me we thought we had a better shot at Boogie or Zoom. I doubt if we were slow playing he’d come running to us now when he has lots of options. Seems more like the continued run we’re on now excited him.

One of the most interesting things is, per a source in Mobile near his recruitment, Alabama has always been a top choice for him. Nate Oats and his staff didn’t push for Philon the first time around, but he did enjoy a strong senior campaign. The same source said Philon started to have doubts about Kansas and has been mulling asking out of his LOI for some time, with it finally happening yesterday.

From Tim Watts himself. We were chasing bigger fish

And I have no doubt it was said he didn’t have a committable offer but that is often just message board stuff.

Who knows. Maybe I’m wrong. I’ll just be glad to have him. I think he’s a baller.

Or, he was interested in us but had other schools after him much harder. Possibly more NIL. But after seeing us go to the final four, and how are guards played with freedom, wants to be in our system. That, and I've heard he grew up a Bama football fan.
