It's easy to trace if you don't check your common sense at the door. Unfortunately the NCAA tends to do just that. There are some exceptions (Bronny James for example), but by and large you'd have to suspend your disbelief to accept that the name, image, and likeness of a recently enrolled 4* freshman recruit who hasn't even practiced with the team yet is worth anything, much less $100,000. I don't anticipate any of that stuff ever being seriously policed by the NCAA though, so I don't understand why UA seems to be taking such a hard line stance against it.

Miller was literally down to us, Tennessee State (likely a courtesy), and like 2 pro leagues.
Nate Oats on NIL
And here is a link to quotes from our coach admitting the need for NIL to help us out referencing both HS recruiting and how it hurt us in the transfer portal this past season.

I agree that it's obvious when players are getting paid to attend a certain school, but as far as tracing wrongdoing according to their rules it's impossible to trace unless the staff/school throw their common sense out the door. In NIL world, all you need is a spoken agreement. There's no more money trail to worry about.

I mean, you aren't wrong. All I'm saying is that it's nonsense that circumstantial evidence of guilt is good enough to convict someone of a crime and send them to prison, but not to prove a college is cheating in sports. The NCAA literally imposes a higher burden on itself than the criminal justice system.

Anybody who doesn't think NIL is hurting us has their head in the sand.

Bro, why didn't it happen with this seasons recruiting class?

we'd be extremely fortunate to reel in a top 40 class at this point.
Idk if it will be that bad. All depends on how many we recruits we decide to take though versus saving spots for the portal.

When it's all said and done...we will see.
Didn't hurt with this seasons recruiting class!
Btw Nick Saban said the same thing!

"Extremely fortunate" may have been a stretch. That would probably be around where I'd expect us to land. Obviously, if we sign 5 guys again we'll likely land higher since the rankings always favor quantity a lot.

This was like 2 weeks ago, and he just committed to another school. You can pump the sunshine if you want, but that's at least a tad concerning that we just lost our top remaining target because UT was able to throw more money at him.
I might actually pay attention to Joka more if he didn’t constantly pump sunshine.

Totally agree. It's how it's worked even before NIL. Took them years to take down Will Wade with a literal recorded confession.

The SEC released the women’s conference schedules, so the men’s should be coming soon.
Posted on 8/17/22 at 1:53 pm to Chadaristic
Yes! I can't wait. Our strength of schedule will probably be top 10 this season.

Just believing what Saban said about Jimbo and A&M applies to SEC basketball too.
