From Rivals

Domio, Puckett and Shed Jackson are still limited. They're doing some individual work on the side and a few drills. Bringing them along. Have some small injuries here and there with the team -- ankles, shoulders. Training staff has done a good job.

** Few big plays on both sides. Overall, defense got 3-4 turnovers. A fumble and some INTs. Two TDs from defense. Didn't go live in the indoor. Did some open field drives, special teams, punt and kickoff return. Did some red zone work and two-minute. Defense was flying around, good day. Multiple players getting to ball. A couple of tipped balls that defense came down with.

** Offense executed well in red zone. Some good runs at the end. Physical in run game. Defense made plays in two-minute. Anders Carlson was really good on special teams.

** A few penalties on defense we have to correct. Slow start on offense, got going but then didn't finish well. Didn't do a good job staying focused through entire practice. Got to improve in that area.

** Making too many of the same mistakes over last practices. Need better attention to detail. Time to improve and move forward. Have to focus on that, which was message to team. Appreciate the effort.

** Need more consistency from OL. There's flashes when all five guys are working together. Have to improve in game situation when we're calling plays. Need to take the next step of all five guys playing the game together. Can't have one guy breakdown. Had a few of those busts today when guys coming off edge didn't get blocked.

** The OL has been working on it, come a long way, but the expectations are a lot higher. We've got to raise our level of execution. Got more practices to do that. Not going to lower our expectations.

** Testing for COVID-19 once or twice a week, knock on wood, we've been good. Had a few positives here and there.

** Says he'll be happy in spring game if they execute special teams properly. Said it's hard to be happy because if the offense does well, that means the defense messed up, etc. Never really been happy after a spring game.

** The A-Day game will consist of live and not-live work. Wants guys to play, have a great environment. Wants guys to feel energy of playing in front of a crowd. Will have some good-on-good and 1 vs. 2s.

** May add some live work to practices this week because we missed some today.

** Kobe Hudson is coming along. His effort in practice has improved and "he's made some plays, now." The WR group has been good, made plays, making good decisions. Moving guys around a lot with motion. A lot of things they have to be detailed on. They want to do it well but it just takes time.

** Bo Nix is smart, he's picked up the offense. Now we're getting into the little adjustments and check-offs we can do. Got to be good at the base first. The QBs as a whole are understanding the why of how we do things.

** The QB position is about decision-making. The best players in the NFL, college, high school make the best decisions. Got to be accurate and all those things, but have to make good decisions.

** One of the hardest things for QBs to do is to throw it away. That's where maturity and toughness has to come in at that position.

** The hiring process started with people and getting to know these guys and what type of person we've got coming in here. Can they fit in with our plan, recruit, develop our guys. Want guys that are motivated and want to be great at what they do. So far from this group we've had low ego, high output. Having good, open conversations without anybody getting upset. Enjoy this staff and coming to work.

** On Shaun Shivers: I like Shaun. He understands how to ask the right questions. He's very purposeful in practice, focused. Don't remember any reps where he wasn't going hard at practice. Runs downhill, protects, plays physical. Study his plays so he can execute properly at practice. Good demeanor, fun to be around. A great example to others on the team.

** Tank has been the same. Cadillac has done a good job with that group.

** Coach Eason is great. He's a ball coach, No. 1. He can coach at any level. The transition has been smoother than anyone would anticipate. He's a people person and connects with people. No issue with him when it comes to recruiting. He tells you what he thinks and gives his DL true evaluations. He'll jump right into DL drills and show them how to do the work.

** The effort and improvement from the DL today.

** J.J. Pegues is working with the DL. Did a good job with offense but made move. Had good conversation with J.J. and he said wherever you need me. I think the position fits him. Going to be a really good fit. You want to play for a guy like Eason. J.J. is going to be really, really good.

** Pegues is playing the DT spot right now. Can probably play anywhere on the DL. Don't have him at nose yet. Just like the OL, you move guys around and see where they can fit in. He's a quick study, he will pick it up. It's fundamentals and techniques right now, the scheme stuff will come.

Now that I know its a full time move to DT I hate it even more. Just a straight up bad decision to me.. And why is our DL that was supposed to be good and deep suddenly needing a TE to covert to DT.. You can't convince me this is a good idea.
