I think fans get the warm and fuzzies about him because he had Eli and took us to a decent bowl game for the first time (at least in my lifetime) but he was like Nutt and didn’t think believe ole miss could compete with the big boys and he was leading us with that mindset.

I think 2 things can right at the same time: coach cut wasn’t the guy for the job long term and coach O was in over his head and was a bad hire to replace him. Coach o thought he could win big at ole miss, but couldn’t get it done. I’d rather have the guy that thinks he can win big over the guy that is happy with a 7-5 ceiling.

This. Say what you want about Freeze but that's a big reason I loved the guy. He believed we could win and compete with the best here and you could tell in how our team played.

Lane has our kids playing like that and I really wish we could keep him forever. But I know that's asking a lot.
