You having to pull out the non-NCAA-sanctioned wheelchair ball must mean my post really drove home

Historically Alabama didn't invest in much outside of football and basketball and it showed. Gym was great because of Patterson, baseball was very good because of Wells and track and field was up and down, but those were mainly due to a great coach not program investment.

Luckily we began trying to compete across the board when Mal showed up and have been slowly chipping away since. We're basically down to having 2 programs in the entire department that aren't at the very least borderline Top 25 quality - volleyball and soccer. Half our programs are in the Top 10 nationally. Byrne has hit basically all of his hires out of the park and things are really in good shape across the board. Even our recent cellar dweller programs like women's basketball are making the NCAA Tournament.

A better question is why does LSU hate the handicapped?
