He’s their linebackers coach
Never called plays
Elite recruiter
Ohio St fans seem pissed so I guess that works for me

Very good coach who is very well liked and respected by his peers and players. Is one of the best recruiters in the country, right on par with their other recruiters, except for maybe Brian Hartline (WR's) who is in a different universe. Columbus guy who is being groomed as future DC. Will he leave OSU for that dumpster fire, IDK, especially when he has already got (3) top 40 players committed for 2022.

Arky hired a position coach to be their head coach.

Has never called a defense - that is an interesting move. LSU is doing the same thing

With Heupel's offensive philosophy he better be all that. Cause his guys are going to be on the field, a lot.

So true....and with Tennessee facing sanctions along with so many transfers, it could turn into coaching suicide.

But he had prior P5 HC experience.

Supposedly we’re offering 3 year 1.5 mill guaranteed contract. Weird how we pony up money for DC’s but not a head coach

Heupel isn't that good! On top of that, sanction is going to kill the program!

Why would any well respected DC go to Tennessee?

To hopefully take over when the HC is fired? It's a dumb move IMO, but one has to start somewhere

Pittman doesn’t call plays though, as a DC you kinda have to. Doesn’t mean he won’t be a good one though.

Yea been a back and forth on this. Said no originally, UT came back with some more cash, then he said he was going to take it, but his heart is in Columbus.
This is money and title vs heart for sure.

They would rather kill their career sooner rather than later

I think Ohio state is underestimating how much we like to set money on fire, we simply do not give a shite.

OSU has caoches on their taxi squad better than Tennesee coaches right now so if Al leaves , no problemo , Day will fill his spot with an upgrade .

you know man ...the Migra , the get back coaches man ..OSU has coaches 2-3 deep so no big deal if Al goes to UT ,which he probably wont bc UT
