Other fan bases I mean. Anytime he's thrown the ball its usually on target. Even when they know he's running he usually gets the 1st down. A lot of times 10-20 yd gains
Yea with Mullen finally having a QB who can run and all the years of coaching he's had. I don't get it. Guess a lot of people wont give coach his due as the QB developer he is. Hatin idk but I predict a pretty fun offense next yr
Gilbert
Copeland
Henderson
Shorter
Whitt
Fraziars
Zipp
Pouncey
Etc
Feel like we got enough pass catchers. Hope Gilbert gets approval. He would be a massive safety blanket like Pitts was.

For a 3rd year backup, he hasn’t thrown the ball a lot. We saw more of him in the cotton bowl than we have since he’s been a gator. That’s a bit concerning. I’m glad we have 2 cupcakes before he takes on Bama.

He’s somewhat undersized IMO, will be easy for defenses to key on if he doesn’t develop a much better passing game. It seems like every pass he attempts is a bullet. That’s OK in certain situations but he’s got to develop more patience in the pocket and some touch on the ball. If he were a true or red shirt fresh maybe, but as long as he’s been in Gainesville, I’m doubtful.

I think he's slightly underrated if anything, but no way is he 6'2".

My concern is the "bullets" he throws, dont think I ever saw him throw with an arch and that's not good. Again, if he is 75% of the snaps running or handing off.... defenses will just stack the line.
We had Emmitt Freaking Smith and couldn't win games against good defenses...why? Because our QBs were putrid beyond words. Hard to run against 9 men in the box.
I would love to see us with a good ground game, but coupled with a very good passing attack. Its important to have a rock solid defense and keep the opponents out of the end zone. The SEC has become pass happy and hard to keep up on the scoreboard if you can't throw well.

Those early games vs. Teams like FAU and USF hopefully get him to at least demonstrate being a consistent passer. Hopefully he can work as much this off season
Reel: i agree with your point. He needs touch and we need balance for sure.

What is with this idea he is easy to stop as a runner because he is smaller?
Dude almost always ran, and was effective when he did.
His arm is strong but the rest we will see. I highly doubt he is a mental case like Franks. Seems to have a good head on his shoulders. The OU game was not a fair test. Had a lot of opt outs and back ups in. Auburn last year he came in and looked very good vs a strong defense.
I have faith in the kid.

Because in the SEC you're going up against Linebackers who are built like defensive ends and safeties who are built like Linebackers. Not literally, but they are much larger than other leagues.
A QB is going to get hit a lot in a Mullen offense, and you can be really talented but your size will get you hurt. Franks got hurt because of his running style, not because of his height and weight.
EJ is at significantly higher risk because he is pretty skinny and not very bulky.
Anthony Richardson is significantly closer to the type of QB we're looking for.

EJ will have to win me over, I just don't believe he is the answer. If he wins the job and is named the starter I will support him. I hope that I am wrong.

So you think Mullen does not know how to adjust his offense to Jones? I'll trust he knows how to get most out of a talent like Jones who is humble and patient.

I don't trust Jones to take hits like Trask took.
He got shaken up several times last year, he's just not built to be run up the middle like Trask, Franks, Tebow, or Dak were.
Anthony Richardson can definitely do that, but I worry about Emory Jones' health. Just for posterity's sake:
6'3'', 245 Pounds
6'5'', 238
6'4'', 234
6'5'', 240
6'2'', 210
6'2'', 226
6'5'', 227
In no particular order: Those are the numbers to Jones, Trask, Franks, Fitzgerald, Tebow, Anthony Richardson, Prescott.
Which one do you think Jones is?

I think Emory would a good QB in Mullen's system.
I just think that AR will be better.

He'll be serviceable, but he'll probably be hurt a game or two this season. Wouldn't surprise me. QBs in our system basically have to be Fullbacks on top of passing the ball.

He's the best fit for Mullen offense since the days of Tebow and Cam
4.6 speed at his size shiieet. I got very high hopes for him

He actually hit 4.5 at the Opening (Nike Event), that dude is probably gonna be our next Heisman. Freak of nature athlete who can also process the field?
I wouldn't even be surprised if he took over this year.

Also had the biggest arm. Launched that thing 70 yds I think. Agreed about heisman possibility
But shite if he hit that at the opening crazy cuz he was not exactly small then
I know when they put him at WR at Eastside cuz they needed a play. He'd make it

Slinging it 70 yards is one thing. Having someone there to catch it is another. I’m not seeing anyone with the speed or the hands to run up field and catch it. It’s been very rare over the past several years watching our receivers go deep and either be overthrown or completely whiff on catching it.
Teams like Bama do it every Saturday like it’s freaking back yard football or something. And before y’all go off with your “we ain’t Bama” routine, y’all need to realize that we need to play at that level in order to be a championship style team. And we currently ain’t doing it.
Yeah, y’all are right. We ain’t Bama. But, like it or not, we’re gonna continue to be mediocre until we start playing like them.

We didn't have those types of receivers last year, either, and had a record-breaking offensive year at Quarterback.
It really isn't about bombing it all over the place, and you guys seem to forget that they also had a Heisman level running back.
Throwing more one on ones will open up longer plays, for sure, and having running QBs make that a lot more possible because it adds yet another dimension for the opposing team to watch out for.
I really, really like our chances when it's 1 on 1 Demarckus Bowman vs. anyone unless it's a quick CB.
It's gonna be fun when Anthony Richardson and Bowman are in the backfield together.

Let’s be real, our passing stats were inflated because we had no run game. Dinking and dunking made up for it.
