Fans always want the players and coaches to love them and the program as much as they do - but they don't.
Saban ended up at Alabama because the stars aligned and he's stayed there because that's where he happened to be when he he was older and realized he wanted to stay in the college game.
They're all mercenaries, and you all are too. If someone offered you 3x your salary to go work in some rival school's football program you would do it. We all like football, but it's not as important as the mortgage.
There's a saying that people are only as loyal as their options. It's easy to be loyal as a fan when no one is throwing money and opportunities at you.
