Why does UGA keep underachieving ?

They are located in a State that produces many great HS prospects. They are located in a State with its Capital considered by many AA as the center of Black Culture in America. The State and the program has produced some of the most talented QBs and RBs in America, maybe the biggest producer in the Country. Many NFL products have come from Georgia. The University is recognized for a quality education, yet we keep seeing the same results for the last 40 years. You want to blame it on a coach, but we have seen many coaches career crash and burn after taking the job (will Kirby be next). If you look at a map, you will see every major college program that surrounds UGA having won a NC since 1990, with the exception of USC. What is the problem ? Not the Schedule, they play in the SECE. Not Facilities, they are in the upper fourth in the Conference.

If anything, AU laid the foundation for underachieving and Smart just followed in their footsteps.

Coaching is your answer.
Mainly on the offensive side of the ball. Some of that is because of bad QB play as well.
But they are moving in the right direction especially next season. We will see.

Underachieving ? Coming from an MSU fan ?

Don't buy that, Richt was a good Offensive mind.

Yet Todd Grantham was the DC.

So TG has been the problem for 40 years in the desert ?

Because in 2017 if they had beaten Alabama in the NC game this underachieving stuff and 1980 would go away. That and Kirby blowing an SEC Championship game to Bama cost then a spot in the Playoffs. So yes, it is Alabama. It sure isn't any other SEC east team or Auburn.

Because Kirby is basically Les Miles a great recruiter but can't coach

He could be, but here are some rankings for total offense for UGA in the SEC.
2015-8th in the SEC
2016- 11th in the SEC
2017- 5th in the SEC
2018- 5th in the SEC
2019- 5th in the SEC
2020- 6th in the SEC
With that talent I think some would expect better on offense. It seems to be getting better. UGA reminds me of LSU in terms of offense throughout the years. LSU finally fixed that problem with good QB play. UGA has a good QB to fix it. So I expect good things.

Care to explain the previous 36 years ?

Georgia Jinx... its the only reasonable explanation.

It’s in their heads. Their whole fan base expects to lose. The “here we go again” mentality. I blame Atlanta sports but at least the Braves are coming out of it.

As an outsider looking in, it's appears to be the offensive coaching staff or plan. Now they have Will Muschamp on the staff, they should let him consult on offensive production. He has a track record of really good offenses.

If being one of the best teams in the nation year after year is underperforming, then I guess that’s one of the better situations to settle for.
