My understanding is that there has to be services/work rendered by the players in order for payments to be legal. This can't be a Big Red Motors type of deal. For example, you can hire a player to be a speaker at an event, meet and greet your clients, or pitch your products/services on their social media.

You can't just give out money. The player has to do something in return. If you're serious about sponsoring players, you should contact the university's compliance department and they'll either give you the green light or put you in the right course.

Hmm... maybe the service could be the player making a short video that says to come here if you want the best A&M board on the internet?

William Liucci would just love that.
