ACC in bowl games?

They had two teams make the playoffs and all the ACC teams that played in bowl games lost.

0-6. The ACC is terrible. Same as it ever was, same as it ever was.

As long as the Covid restrictions/policies and injuries aren’t as severe to the football program as they were in 2020, Georgia will be a playoff team next season.

The play off committee looks like morons.

Thats because they are. We really need to go back to the BCS because former AD's and half whit politicians don't know shite about college football.

I'm probably the only one that thinks the playoff committee got it right with the 2 best teams in the playoff.
Everyone's bitching but I cant seem to understand why.

ND had no business being in the playoffs after getting massacred in their ostensible conference championship game. And it's not like they have a pretty established pattern of playing the part of 1940 France in recent bowl games, either.

Because the playoff is four teams, not two, and two games not one. It doesn't look good when *the* marquis bowls are prison rapes. And keep in mind OSU is only there because the Big Ten changed its own rules.
So really, the playoff committee only correctly picked 'Bama, which really doesn't require Amazing Kreskin levels of foresight.

You are falling for the playoff trap.
100% of the reason for a 4 team playoff was to make certain that the "2 best teams" make it into the playoff.
It has nothing to do with the 4 best teams.
If you want the 4 best teams in college football, then you invite 8 into the playoff.
If you want the 8 best teams in college football, then you invite 16.
This cycle of uninformed bitching about the selection process will never stop until someone remembers what the goal is (to make sure we have the best 2 teams included unlike what the BCS provided us).

Who gives a shite so long as the 2 best teams are included. Sometimes, it is the 3 or 4 seed doing the raping.

They are. Never was it more botched than this year. ND shouldn't have been in after getting blown out by Clemson and OSU shouldn't be in after playing only half a schedule. They're faster, fresher, and more physical because of it. Wouldnt be surprised if they knocked Alabama off because of it..and then the Fields shitheads will really come out in force.

A playoff is, by definition, a series of games, not a single game.

Ok, so going forward, the playoffs should consist of only the following games: Consensus No. 1 plays Prairie View A&M; Consensus No. 2 plays Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

The fact that there is a "selection process" shows why it's all horsehit. There should be no selection - either a team qualifies against a fixed set of criteria, or it does not. Most other sports understand that.

I fail to see the significance of the big 10 doing wnat every conference would have done.

The ACC cancelled the final games for both Clemson and Notre Dame.
I fail to see how that is different than the B1G.

Except there is no way to guarantee that. At best, the current system can only have the two best (or luckiest) teams of those selected play, not that the two best teams in CFB play.

What year was the best team left out?
Go for it, tiger. The last time the best team was left out was the BCS. Problem has been solved.

File it under "If you're not cheating, you're not trying" I suppose.
First, they didn't want to play at all. Then, when other conferences were doing well with games, they set up a stupid system to qualify for their own conference championship. Then, despite having two teams that DID qualify for their championship, they switched it so that OSU - who did not previously qualify because it failed to satisfy the requirements of the system they themselves imposed - suddenly did.
I would not have much of a problem with it if no teams had had sufficient games to qualify for the Big 10 championship game and OSU and one other had been picked to play based on best record out of what was played. But when teams did qualify, and OSU did not, to change to rules to put OSU in is bullshite.
But then institutional integrity always gives way to the dollars, doesn't it? Fraud just isn't a good business model.

By having a "selection" rather than a clearly delineated qualification, there is no way to ever guarantee that the best team, or even any of the four best, gets in. If they want to have a serious playoff, then all of college football needs to be reorganized: for a four team playoff, all D1 programs go into four conferences, and the 4 champs play; or do it with 8 teams and 8 conferences. Win and you're in. No selections; no could'a, would'a, should'a; no "my one loss is better than your one loss"; no nothing.

So you cant give me an example of when the best 2 teams are not in the playoff.

This. Football is a lot different from basketball. In basketball, underdawgs loaded with experienced Seniors can potentially upset young highly recruited teams like Kentucky but in football players can't jump to the pros until after their Sophomore season which means that the age/maturity of players for top contenders like Alabama isn't that much different from teams like the Cincinnati team we played in the Peach Bowl.
As such in football, the best team is almost certainly among the 4 teams selected by the playoff committee and really the best team was usually one of the 2 teams determined by the previous BCS format.
In other words, what I am saying is that a team like 9-0 Cincinnati has roughly zero chance of beating a team like Alabama even if they played them 20 times.
