Need to get a life.
These players dont owe you or anybody else a gottam thing.
Just because you and your wife puts on yalls skoal stained jersey of your favorite 18 yr old player, doesnt mean he has to do what's best for you and her (or him, if you'rean Aggie), but for him and his future.
These kids spend more time improving their skill and future, than most of you do in your own career.
Just because your pathetic life revolves around young boys in tight pants running around chasing a another boy with the ball, doesnt mean your fetish should matter when it comes to their choices and careers.

They certainly don’t owe us anything. I’d like to think they have bonds with and obligations towards their teammates though and they are letting them down. That’s a poor reflection of character in my opinion

False. They signed up and took a scholarship.

That is correct. However, we can still have opinions about them, like quitter, lazy, selfish etc. We don't owe them some sort of special consideration or treatment either.

I'd like to think they owe the school their playing abilities unless injured or dealing with personal issues....

If you "opt out" for any decent reason it should ofcourse be considered, but should you be able to go to the first day of class, then quit the 2nd day and still get a full semester of paid room and board, your meal pass, tutor access etc? I mean i honestly dont know if they even get to keep that stuff when they "Opt out" for getting ready but in every other facet of life you dont just get to keep reaping benefits if your no longer honoring your end of a contract.

Your post is dripping with your homo-erotic fantasies. I guess go rub one out and stop melting all over a sports board.

It's basically like a contact you might have with an employer. You are free to quit working anytime you want, but your contract might prevent you from taking a similar job with another employer for the length of the contract.

They are students before athletes. Respect their decision.
Playing in a meaningless bowl game doesnt hurt anyone, it actually helps someone who may not have had much pt

Have you ever been a part of any team?
If anyone on my team quit during a season and left their teammates high and dry they would be considered the biggest b*tches on the planet

So you think the school should immediately disassociate with them, remove them academically, remove them from any university provided housing and drop their provided insurance as well right?

This isn't unique to athletic scholarships. At many schools, music students on scholarship are required to participate in the marching band for 1-2 seasons as well as participate in performances, some of which make money for the department and school. If they don't hold up their end of the contract, they forfeit the scholarship.

Thats it ! Make that scolarship a binding contract !
Make sure there's no clause in there that reads " I'll play all the games unless I don't feel like it, or Im protesting, or Im protecting my draft stock like the selfish bitch I am."
Make those who choose to "opt out" anyway, the defendant in a civil suit, requiring immediate repayment of all university expenses during the entirety of their time on campus.
What a great idea 3down10 ! Genius !

I guess you don't have any opinions about other people. Interesting.
