I'm kicking off dinner tonight with some red wine and then will probably switch to bourbon. Thinking of making old fashioneds - likely with Buffalo Trace. Does anyone have a go-to recipe for old fashioneds?

Bulliet or Taylor rye would make a killer old fashioned or manhattan. You can do it cheaper with Canadian whiskey which the Canadians call rye though it has a lower rye mash bill than what the US calls rye.

I will usually have unsweet tea with dinner. Then maybe a half glass of water from the faucet tap about an hour before bed time

Michters Rye, simple syrup, bitters, orange peel. They actually sell the orange bitters in a lot of stores now. I’ d use a Rye. Save the BT for sipping.

I've taken a solemn vow of soberness until 'Dogs of Georgia bring home another mythical national title...as all true people of Georgia should take in our pilgrimage to get back to the Promised Land.

Yeah I do like rye for an old fashioned but I don't care for it alone so I rarely buy it. Maybe I'll buy a small one.

Then go to the bar at the top of the JW and ask the gal with short hair to make one. She makes a damn good one.

Nice.
I’ve got a serious pot of soup going with the leftover ham bone from the Christmas ham. And a pile of wings in fridge for tomorrow to be cooked in the ninja foodie air fryer. Yes, that contraption from the infomercials. Don’t laugh , it makes perfect restaurant equivalent wings. Maybe even better than a restaurant. Could might even win a Rid Off with them

What model do you have? Have you done fish in it? I'm interested in one of these.
I'll be drinking bud light in the afternoon then switch over to turd monster after sundown. I doubt I'll make it to midnight.

I prefer an old fashioned with Rye. Old Forester or Bulleit Rye are usually my go-to’s.
Place a sugar cube in a low ball glass and add about 5 splashes of bitters. Move the cube around to soak up some of the bitters and the muddle the cube in the glass. Add a small amount of simple syrup (just enough to barley cover the bottom of the glass). Place a king cube in the glass. Put some crushed iced in a shaker, add two ounces of bourbon and shake (this will chill the bourbon and add a little water in the process), then pour into the glass and stir. Garnish with an orange peel and one or two luxardo cherries.

The air fryer is the trans-gender of kitchen appliances. We can all pretend like it's "frying" things, but we all know it's actually a convection oven, just like Bruce Jenner is really a dude.
