Yes. The implementation of the playoff did change the post season. The fact that big time CFB lasted like it did so long without the all important playoffs is shocking to me, but the players finally caught onto the charade that was the bowl system. The BCS was the first step in that process.

The BCS started in 1998 and nothing changed for 23 years.
