Fl on probation. Where did that come from?

Mullen was doing exactly what Bo Davis did, was arranging to ‘accidentally meet’ juniors on school visits

Don't get caught up with words.

He was barred from off-campus recruiting for the fall 2020 cycle, which is over. His only remaining penalty is a reduction of 7 days in his off campus recruiting for 2021.

Other than enhancements if they're caught again in the near future, he faces nothing of significance in the form of penalties.

That's not what the NCAA release said at all.

They listed two things:

1) He met a kid in Seattle that had not finished his junior season yet and told the kid he was interested in recruiting him. Apparently that's a violation.

2) He or some of his staff met with teams that were touring UF campus (I assume at a time when it wasn't permitted)

Here's the NCAA release with details

it sounds like this ncaa sanction is over a year old, and they managed to keep it quiet.

Pretty much. The NCAA released their report today.

Florida apparently chose to not tell the world their new coach had fricked up right off the bat.

I get UF's position but I've got no idea why it took the NCAA so long to announce penalties that were served over a year ago.

In reference to the above comparison with Bo Davis. Mullen's problem wasn't that he had secret meetings with the kid. From reading the report that's in the press release, there wasn't anything secret about it. The problem was the kid was too young for in-person recruiting. Apparently they've got to be finished with their junior season before that's allowed.

so his ban on off campus recruiting ran concurrently with a sport wide ban on off campus recruiting? wow, talk about lucky charms, smh...

After reading the report, it's appropriate for the crimes.

It really is much ado about nothing. A 15 minute meeting with a kid that was 2 years away from being able to sign and an assistant doing a meet and greet with a bunch of 7-on-7 teams that were touring the facility. Big whoop.

The one thing that I take out of it is that the NCAA may be starting to swing a bigger hammer than they've done recently. If that's accurate, it doesn't bode well for programs currently facing more serious accusations.

Just confirms Dan Mullen is an undisciplined POS.
