Promote Rodney Garner.
Pros:
- Loyal AU guy
- Knows where the bodies are buried
- Already got Gustav R-U-N-N-O-F-T (allegedly)
- Loved by rich boosters who are actually calling the shots (allegedly)
- Isn’t Steele but can keep him as DC
- Would probably work cheap
- Woke points
- Potentially could shock everyone and turn out like Eaux for at least a couple of years
Cons:
- Never been an HC so no track record (would be a Pro when compared to Steele as HC)
- Would likely fill staff with AU buddies whether they could coach or not
- Could potentially flame out like Steele at Baylor or Chadwick at Arky, potentially cratering the program for years
-Could attract intense NCAA scrutiny
In any case, the GOBs would have their #1 “insider” (allegedly) in the ultimate position, and could legitimately run the program 100%, which seems to be their goal (allegedly).
And it might be worth it on the AURant just for the Brannigan melt alone.
What do you think, sirs?

If for some dumbass reason that we promoted from within, then it should be Travis Williams. Might as well swing for the fences if we decide to do something so dumb.

If anyone on this staff is promoted to HC, I'm out.

Not a fan of posts like this. What has Garner ever done to deserve this kind of shite? Do I want him as HC, nah, but I have no doubt he wants AU to be successful.
I don't buy for a second the whole "coup" nonsense. Gus is responsible for how the team played on offense. Garner and Steele had nothing to do with that. And if they voiced concerns to the PTB (a big if), who can blame them?
