I love Auburn but If those idiots hire Kevin Steele I’m out. I can name 10 coaches that would love to come to Auburn that would be better than Comb-over Kevin. It would be the most lazy, pathetic hire ever. Auburn and us fans deserve better.

Dude, Napier and Fickell are both top fricking notch Group of 5 coaches. I would have no problem with either of them. I prefer Napier because he is from Georgia, knows the south and has coached under Saban and Dabo. Fickell has spent his entire career in the state of Ohio.

The fact neither is in AU right now giving their intro press conference has me worried. My only hope is they have committed to coaching their teams in the post-season and want to keep it secret till then. But if true, why keep the hiring a secret? Kirby was officially hired at UGA and still coached Bama in the playoffs. Shane Beamer at USCe is officially the USCe HC but has said he is gonna coach OU in their bowl. So you don't have to keep a hiring secret even if the coach wants to coach his final game.

And if it's Freeze, why isn't he on a plane already? What's he really have to think about? This only tells me they don't want Freeze (and that's fine, I am 50/50 on him myself).

Cristobal is the only one that makes sense taking some time. He is at a major P5 program already and would probably have to "think" about it. He also has leverage and can negotiate for more money, etc. I could see that taking time. Cristobal said today, however, that he has not talked to anyone from AU (but said he can't confirm his agent hasn't).

So if they are not in negotiations with Cristobal right now, then I am seriously worried this will be a cluster.

What I hope is happening: They are negotiating with Cristobal who is wavering a bit, perhaps trying to get more out of Oregon. That's fine. If he falls through, then get on the phone with Napier.

Something tells me this isn't happening and AU is just now putting a committee together.
