Everyone's anointed UGA as the team that should win it all. If they don't, it will either be because of being outcoached or injuries.
Where does he rank among SEC coaches? I believe he's 6th or 7th.

Get's a ton of talent but average coach. Always guaranteed to fall short of annual overblown expectations. Watching the replay of the 03 SECCG reminds me of what it feels like to beat the supposed "best of the SEC" like a drum.

’03.....11-3
’04.....10-2
’05.....10-3
’06.....9-4
’07.....11-2

There are currently 5 active SEC coaches, who have won National Championships. In any ranking system based on actual accomplishments, Richt would have to fall below any of them, including Phat Phil. Now if whining to the media were taken into consideration, then Richt's ranking would dramatically increase.

Richt's an excellent coach.

Richt is far from overrated. Saban on the other hand has had 1 great season in his entire coaching career.
Toledo: 9-2 left after 1 year
Michigan State: 6-5-1, 6-6, 7-5, 6-6, 10-2
LSU: 8-4, 10-3, 8-5, 13-1, 9-3
Miami Dolphins: 9-7, 6-10
Total record: 99-48-1
Bowl record: 5-5
Richt's record 72-19
Bowl record 5-2
Richt would have to go 17-29 to equal Saban's current record, not going to happen. He's already won more bowl games.

Richt' first season had some terrible clock managment moments vs Auburn and BC in the bowl.Other than that,he's been tremendous. His 2002 team was as good as Ohio State and Miami ,IMO, and they were as good as Ohio State last fall .
I've been surprised at the 'off field' trouble this year, but honestly,he is as good of a coach in the SEC as anyone.

Richt will get his crystal ball. Just not this year.
