I hope Mullen has grown a little, probably not, but that he almost let Franks tank his tenure at Florida is pretty worrisome if we ever run into a similar problem in the future.

Hey, Straws. Glad you're back as I've always enjoyed your post.

I take comfort in knowing that he was likely going to give Trask a look after the Mizzou game in 2018. I realize that's a little late for some but the season wasn't so far gone at that point that I think Mullen is a risk to "tank his tenure" if faced with a similar problem in the future. Also, he's shown an ability to adapt; this year providing an excellent example.

Thank you, man.

And just as a caveat:

I don't think Mullen is "bad" at assessing talent at the QB position, I think he just looked at Franks as his masterpiece. Sort of like:

"If I can make this guy an NFL QB, I can make almost anyone be an NFL QB."

I think he greatly overestimated Franks, who has all the physical tools but seems to not have the computer. If Franks could read the defense, with that frame and that arm? Whew, no defense would ever be safe.

Again, though, I don't think Mullen will make this mistake again. He's going to have a loaded QB room when Trask leaves.

(Jones, Richardson, Carlos Del Rio and Kitna.)
