Definitely not. We’re at a critical point in Gamecock Football where alumni and booster support is dwindling significantly. We’ve invested a great deal of money in improving our facilities and have had zero ROI. We only keep regressing while everyone around us gets better and better.

Shane Beamer has proven nothing. Why on earth, when our program is desperate for a proven winner, would we take a risk on a guy who has just floated around and hasn’t even been offered a HC role by a G5 school? Recruiting is just one aspect of the job, and we are currently witnessing a “good recruiter” run our program deeper into the dirt.

I get that we’re South Carolina and we always make stupid decisions, but to read that Beamer is actually on some “insider” short lists for HC is very troubling. He needs to prove he can lead a program first, we don’t have the luxury of giving him a few years to figure it out right now. That’s why Freeze needs to be our top priority.

Not sure we will do much better. I mean Hugh freeze is the best option. Good coach great quarterback coach but I’m not sure Tanner would hire him cause he has some baggage. Same with the coastal Carolina coach. We will probably be stuck between hiring a Beamer or a Shawn Elliott or settle for another retread like Tom Herman or Mark richt. Getting rid of Muschamp is the easy part.

Many people think that it will take a Sam Pittman type to be our next coach. Again Hugh freeze in my opinion is the guy if Tanner would pull the trigger. We could probably get Hugh freeze.

The next HC needs to be someone proven at HC for a smaller school, even if he stays only for 4 or 5 years and moves on. The next HC needs to build a stable program, hire some good assistants, and win 8-9 games a year after year 2. The job will then look really good for the next HC who wants to stay for the rest of his career.
