I'd rather keep politics out of sports. But opting out is only for COVID related concerns, is it not?
Also, if one opted out for social reasons, they probably aren't coming back.

Nobody at LSU that's opted out has said it was because Orgeron didn't call Trump a mean racist poopie head.
