So, is this the year we fire Cuonzo

or does Xavier Pinson and Dru Smith carry him to another chance?

No, it wasn’t financially feasible BEFORE all this Covid shite. It’s definitely not now.
He’s got two more years

Cuonzo may leave on his own now that his $ guarantee goes down a bit.

two more years, then roll the dice again. Hopefully Sundvold overrules Sterk this time, cause Sterk sucks at this

Probably carry him. I hope Mark Smith has a bounce back year from 3pt range so he can be more effective.

He may be looking to get out on his own. He’s not in a great position. We aren’t going to fire him, though.

I don't know if I agree with this. This is Sterk's only basketball coach hire at Mizzou (cuonzo). It didn't work out but I had no problem with the hire initially. It wasn't my first choice and I knew he had historically been mediocre but I thought just maybe with his STL background and additional resources at Mizzou he didn't have at his previous stops that he could do well at Mizzou.
I was wrong of course and so was Sterk but I think he deserves a 2nd chance. Drinkwitz is the same type of hire we need for basketball if we can't pony up for a known commodity.

I don't have enough info to know this, but I think the evidence for it is good. Counzo was an uninspired choice that he locked onto right away and then overpaid and way over guaranteed. He was getting ready to overpay for the Arky state football coach who he locked onto until the board said no and suggested Drink. He then overpaid for Drink (6 years at 24M for a coach with 1 year of non P5 HC experience). I have little confidence in him to make a great hire (or even good really) and his negotiating style seems to be to lock onto one candidate and give the agent whatever he asks for

I'm going to say that non power 6 teams in the SEC have to overpay in football. I may be exaggerating with this statement, but it feels like a relatively poor decision to coach at a non power 6 team when competition is so much "better" for success elsewhere.
I do feel like a lot of places wanted Cuonzo at the time, so I don't know how much that had to do with it. But hindsight certainly shows it was poor negotiating

He was hired to get Michael Porter Jr, right? Now that's over without any success from it would lead any rational AD to move on.

Why you keep saying overpaid? Drink is making market value. Cuonzo isn’t necessarily overpaid, it’s just the ridiculous guarantee clause in the contract

Now that he weighed in the protest shite and the faux white supremacy/racist shite, I hope they fire his arse with quickness....but at least he started a conversation

As much as you may not like him for making the posts, it will probably help in recruiting. Plus with Mizzou's recent history, the last thing they would do is fire a person of color during these times.

Yeah, that’s not gonna happen...

I know...he should spend his time trying to be a better coach vs. telling us how we need to be better...he needs to be better at his job.

If Drinkwitz comes out swinging and we see some immediate success, the pressure will be on as to why basketball isn't coming along. That could be the beginning of the end if Cuonzo doesn't show improvement.

Cuonzo is a gonner already. There is very little chance he can work his way back into keeping his job. At this point, he is gone when March 2021 rolls around.

It may be 2022.
Really puzzling why this hasn’t worked out at all. I didn’t expect him to be an elite team. I did think we wouldn’t be awful. And we’re awful.

And at the same time you need to be better, also.
