How can Mizzou Mirror Their Pro Teams?

Missouri pro sports have been insanley successful the last decade and have incredible fan base following.
Is it impossible to be great in both pro sports and university sports?
Chiefs, Cardinals, Blues and hell even the Battlehawks were known to have the best fans. Where has the athletic department failed to create interest?
You can say success however mizzou has been a game away from 2 NC title appearances in the last 12 years. Schools like Arkansas, A&M, Miss St, Ole Miss and others haven't had that yet are known to have a better fanbase than Mizzou.
Without an insane amount of success, is it impossible to be great in both pro sports and the NCAA level at the same time? The markets in Missouri are better than a good number of the SEC states.
It also begs another question. Could it be something that the MSHAA is doing to hold back kids in high school from developing into premier athletes to form in state talent that translates into much easier recruiting?
The University of Missouri shot themselves in the foot in the 80' and 90's with their lack of interest in the athletic department but if they can figure out how to turn it around, Missouri isn't in as bad of a spot as most seem to think.

I wouldn't say it's a big IF at all. The athletic department has had 2 highly successful seasons in the last decade or so to capitalize on and a back to back SEC Championship appearance but wasn't able to stoke an insane amount of interest with that.
I think, honestly, the SEC media has alot to do with that. Even after almost winning the conference, we were wrote off the next year by experts and ended up appearing in the ship again. In the Big XII we always had favorable media coverage surrounding our successes. In the SEC, as with this board, our success are always written off as luck. A&M who has had alot less "success" in football since joining the conference, has been able to have alot favorable media coverage from the experts and pundits of the conference.
I do believe that has alot to do with it aswell.

It definitely seems like the region from Kansas through Missouri to Illinois produces enough talent to build a contender. Drinkwitz is a great hire imo as an up and coming coach with familiarity with the region. Will definitely be pulling for yall

The administration needs to have a commitment to winning. Put up advertisements non stop on radio, tv, and across the state. Mizzou used to do this and they can do it again. They're in the best football conference and they need to take advantage of that.....but will they ? time will tell.

This right here is so true and the fact that Kansas and Illinois programs are in shambles should help alot. Nebraska has always fricked us with this but they seem to be threatening us less and less in recruiting. Oklahoma and (surprise) Alabama have been big at taking our big names away lately. Iowa could potentially be a threat soon and Ohio State has gotten us a quite a bit. (Zeke especially)

It’s not too late.
Every school has shot themselves in the foot. Just look at the 2015 Miles debacle. Not saying it’s less or more on the same scale. But that was a disaster caused by the 2012 extension.
You have been handed the keys to a Ferrari. The sec lotto ticket literally landed in your lap due to TVs and geography.
You can cash in and forget about the past as long as admin sees that college football is the front door step to your university.

and show up to the pro venues not just to throw out a ceremonial pitch, flip the coin, and drop the puck, but to make your presence known at each of them on a consistent basis. So far, Drink is the only one who gets it.

Yeah, the Big Ten is a quality conference, but its bottom is awful and very far-flung geographically: who wants to play games at Rutgers, Maryland, etc on the reg? I have to figure that some Midwestern kids would rather play in the SEC while still going to a school near home. This is probably benefitting Kentucky as well

My brother played at tiny Wofford. First game as Division 1 was there. Went to a place called Harpos(?) after the game.I think I had good time. Can’t remember that much

I feel like Mizzou's college scene as a whole is very good. Since we don't border a coast line and it can get cold as frick here, plays against us and hurts the image of how fun Mizzou really is.

There is a lot more in Columbia than Clemson I can assure you of that. Just a thought and I apologize for not being familiar with personal but what about the JUCO kids from Kansas? I had several kids go out there and end up at a Power 5. No luck?

We get kids from there often but I feel most are guys that were committed before going JUCO though.

Good troll but St Louis Rams had easily the worst pro fan base of the Missouri teams. In my opinion.
