I agree, with most of this. He pulled in huge recruiting classes and you could say he underachieved relative to that. But didn't McCoy's arm go numb? Just a freak injury

What a lot of people fail to note was Greg Mc Elroy played that game with bad ribs and could hardly throw.

We got Julio Freaking Jones and he's pretty much just a blocking tight end, and still win the football game.

Yeah, I have always thought that McCoys injury was for real and insinuations that he quit were way off base. There was a lot of venom towards Brad McCoy for his excessive self-marketing and hanging around the program constantly. When Case came along and acted like a fool half the time and was hit with sexual assault charges, the Longhorn fanbase seemed to turn on the McCoy family.

I just recalled that Brad McCoy basically got Colt run out of Cleveland due to his constant media commentary.

Funny thing about that game, most people forget that 18 year old Garett Gilbert played really well off the bench, throwing for two TDs in the 3rd quarter. he was so hyped coming in that I thought the Horns were set for another amazing run. Gilbert's subsequent meltdown and transfer were all the more mysterious, especially since he played so well at SMU and got drafted and is still in the NFL.
