Going OT slightly, realized that two of the big American folk tales (John Henry and Paul Bunyan) have parts dealing with automation in some form. Hadnt thought about them in years

Kinda sad that those still ring true today

Anyway thanks again diddly its a good song

ACDC

Makes up 1/2 of my workout/run playlist and has for several years. I prefer Bon Scott, and only put Brian Johnson songs on the playlist on the past few months when I needed an extra couple of hours of material.

I dont have a preference between Bon Scott and Brian Johnson. Both did well, Johnson just happens to have had a longer career than Scott so he has more songs.

One of the reasons ACDC chose Johnson to replace Scott is cause Scott saw Johnson singing with another band and during the performance Johnson started making weird screaming noises, fell to the ground writhing, etc. Scott thought this was part of the performance and cool but in actuality, Johnson had appendicitis and was in extreme pain

I dont use workout music. I was listening to ACDC or GNR before going to the gym but now, well

My favorite workout album:

Sturgill Simpson- Sound & Fury

TG you might like this album. I know I had you listen to some of Sturgill’s country stuff but this album is totally different.

Some of the best electric guitar I've heard.

Normally not huge on synth-rock, but this album does great with it.

If you listen to it, listen in order, and listen loud.

Dudley-go buy a good acoustic guitar and learn to play it. You'll thank me when you get to college.

I'm actually pissed at myself. My brother got a guitar for Christmas when he was 13, and he never tried to play it.

My parents asked if I would play it and I said no. They gave it to charity. I was 11, but damn that still pisses me off.

Unfortunately I'm currently unemployed, so I can't afford one right now.

Stop spending money on vinyl and get a job.

A decent starter Martin or Taylor acoustic/electric can be had at $500. A good enough Takamine will be about the same or less.

No college girl is going to ask how much the guitar cost. I promise.

I mean I kind of have a job.

I do stage and audio setups at live concerts.

Unfortunately those are off for the forseeable future.

You got a birthday coming up? There's always Christmas. Maybe start a home coronavirus mask making business or some shite.

I can't recall anytime since I was a sophomore in high school that I wasn't doing something to earn money.

I bet there are some folks that need to pay bills that will be selling their spare guitars very soon. Look online.

FWIW, I don’t spend much money. I hadn’t spent any of the money I made from working 25 concerts last year.

The concert season was supposed to really get going last week, which is why I spent some money on vinyl this winter.

Unfortunately there’s this little virus thing.

Words of wisdom. Useful hobby to showoff/mention

Much better than my hobby of knife collecting, its not always a good one to mention

I still make money. I basically do everything for my grandmother now. I run her garden for the most part. All she does is water. I mow both lawns, edge, and weed whack.

I probably get $50 a week from it.

The problem is all the shite I have to pay for.

I pay $35 a month for my phone. I pay for gas as well as car insurance.

Also, when my mom realized how much I made last year she got mad, saying I made too much

So now she charges me for anything she can. If I leave a light on it’s $1. If I don’t put my dishes in the dishwasher it’s $2. One time I forgot to flush a toilet (just pee) and she charged me $5.

It’s fricking ridiculous.

I even did the research and figured out that leaving on a light for 8 hours cost $0.02

My uncle is a musician who runs concerts, and about half the one's I worked last year were for him.

Anyways, I get paid $12 an hour for those. That is not a lot compared to other audio jobs. We work from 8 AM to 1 PM for stage and audio setup, then 6 PM to 12 AM, which includes the concert itself plus teardown.

So I make $132 per concert working for him. I worked 14 concerts for him this year.

So I made roughly $1800 working for him this year. When my mom saw my checking account after the first few concerts, she emailed him and told him that "he can pay me less than minimum wage because I'm family".

I was so pissed. She literally doesn't want me to make money because she thinks I earn too much. She said "I never made that much money as a kid. It's ridiculous."

I explained inflation to her, but she doesn't care. She tries to take money any way she can.

ETA: That's part of the reason I spent a lot of money on vinyl. She was getting really upset by the money in my bank account, so I decided to get it down so she wouldn't take as much.
