Not trolling guys, very serious question.
I've read that their OL was number one.

I've also read That Joe Burrow was the most pressured QB in CFB last season.
If he was he handled the pressure extremely well.
Just a serious question. What do you guys think.?

Wasn't a lot of continuity. One of our tackles was out 5 games for weed. Our true freshman phenom guard got hurt at the beginning of the year and Ed Ingram didn't get cleared till after the texas game. Not sure how many games we had with the same starting lineup but I would guess not many

Honestly, I think our blocking scheme and play calling were finally on the same page. Spreading defenses out helped they line a lot, but they were good.

I think they were above average, but not great. Scheme and Burrow sliding in the pocket hid deficiencies.

They were good but I think Burrow's elite ability handle and escape pressure made them look better than they realistically were.

They won the award for the top OL in CFB:
LSU OL wins Joe Moore award for Top OL
quote:

“In an unprecedented recognition of physicality in pass protection, Coach Cregg’s unit separated itself in the eyes of the voters by their effort and strain in the run game, and by how consistently they demonstrated that pass protection is not passive,” said Aaron Taylor, CBS college football analyst and co-founder of the Joe Moore Award. Taylor played guard and tackle at the University of Notre Dame for the Award’s namesake, the legendary offensive line coach Joe Moore.

quote:

“All of this year’s finalists displayed the award criteria in impressive fashion, but LSU made a statement by how well they played together as a group and brought physicality to everything they did,” said Randy Cross, three-time All-Pro with the San Francisco 49ers, College Football Hall of Famer, CBS college football analyst, and JMA voting committee member. “LSU showed a tone-setting attitude in both pass protection and in their run blocking that really caught the attention of the 200 plus member voting body that has collectively played and coached this position for well over 800 years.”

LSU threw the ball over 500 times last season, the year prior Burrow threw under 400 times.

They were good but not the best, Oregon probably had the best o-line in CFB last year. LSU was just the sexier team so they got the hardware.

They were good & held up when they needed to, but I wouldn’t say they were amazing.

How many attempts did he have compared to other teams?

Also, he had to play against some pretty good defensive talent: Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, that may have skewed the numbers a bit.

It was good, was it the best? I don’t think so. Burrow’s ability to move around and extend plays played a huge role.

Average pass blocking, pretty good run blocking.

Definitely not best in country, but improved a good bit from 2018

They weren't the best but good enough. A lot of plays LSU was sending 5 receivers including the rb. This leaves your o line susceptible to every blitz package you can conjure up on defense. Burrow was other worldly escaping pressure and making a positive play.

How it relates to 2020. Myles will need a cleaner pocket than Joe. I think you'll see a lot more shorter passes because Myles doesn't glide around the pocket and wait for the longer routes to develop. LSU will run the ball more as they should. I look for an improved o line this season. By mid season the continuity should be good.

LSU lead the nation with 5-man protection plays. Were they the best no. But I would at least put them top 10. People base the opinion of them being a bad line on 2018. Well 2018 was a difficult year because they battled injury and scheme issues. When an offense only has two men go out on a pass route, the QB has to hold the ball longer. Brumfield a senior in 2018 was not a good play as well. In 2019 they were a good line.

LSU was able to use the same personnel and run every formation out of it. So In this draft, Cushenberry the Center is as of now projected as a 2nd round pick, D. Lewis the RG is projected as 4th. T. Moss our TE who had 47 catches for 570 and 4TDs was a very effective run blocker. He is projected as a 3rd round pick. Sadiq Charles the LT went out early, was suspended 6 games this year and probably thought his year to go is projected in 6th round. Ingram . Adrian Magee the LG is projected as 7th round. So it is possible 5 of the 6 guys who started most of the games this year from TE to Tackle could get drafted. So no 1st round guys but a talented group that played well together.

Burrow made them look better than they actually were.

They were good, not great, IMO.
