I know his family...he didn’t tell them he was playing football. If he’d gone in the first three rounds, he was gone. He struggled mightily at the plate his senior year.

That said, we played well against high level competition the summer before in Chicago.

He’s definitely elite in the outfield and on the base path.

He’ll be a bottom of line-up hitter at Ole Miss this year and a liability at the plate. (Though nowhere near Hal Hughes level liability).

Interesting

My guess is, based on everything I read about him (which was a lot because I was really curious about him during the draft) is that he was insanely toolsy and pretty raw.

Those tool stats tell me that's probably the case (not even including speed but the other, baseball specific traits like exit velo and arm strength). From what you've said it sounds like he probably hadn't entirely harnessed all that stuff yet.

It will be interesting to see how much he is able to grow when he really isn't even able to participate in fall workouts. Will be tough to develop a whole lot.
