Interviewed Thursday on the NFL Network’s set at Super Bowl LIV in Miami, former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was asked how close he came to returning to school for his senior season.

He made his point by pinching two fingers together as near to each other as they could come without touching.

quote:

“The thing that stuck with me from Coach Saban was, when you make a decision, don’t make an emotional one," he told NFL Network. "If me and you have this [relationship], we’re always going to have it. Don’t feel like you need to pressure yourself into staying because of the relationship that we have, and if you go, we won’t have it. No, that’s not what it is.

Well - I think it worked out best for everyone, and I hope that things are working out the way he hoped and in his heart he confirms to himself that he made the right decision.

And it makes me very happy to know that Coach Saban told him that, which is in line with everything we know about how he deals with kids and the draft.

If the above is true for Coach Saban, then Dabo must be all like...

Tua made the best choice for him and also my sanity. I would have been cringing so hard everytime he got hit next year if he came back.

It was time for both he and Alabama to go their separate ways. What else could he have accomplished with another year that he hasn't already? Bama is in pretty good hands regardless of the next qb. If they get that defense figured out.....look out next season!!

I honestly believe the team will be better, top to bottom, next year. Tua was good. But he had some major flaws.

Supposedly an NFL team told him he wouldn’t make it past them in the top 5. If that’s the case he absolutely should have gone

Happy for Tua

Saban is a good dude.

Irony is Dabo made his worn down RB with an expiring clock come back, but it's Saban who is painted as insecure and selfish by the media.

So in other words Saban told him the exact opposite of what Dabo tells his first rounders.
