Why dont you look a little closer at 2nd down.

Tell me what you see.
Is there a take-away on our 2nd down plays?

We ran on 2nd down 17x (10 possessions) and passed on 2nd down 5x (5 possessions) against Auburn.

6 3-and-outs and 7 punts on possessions we ran on 2nd down.

1 of our TD's we ran on 2nd down, but we opened with a pass and scored the TD on a pass on 1st down.

Our other 2 TD's we ran on 2nd down, but we also passed on 1st down on both of those, as well as passing on a 2nd down on one of them because it was an extended drive.

Key take-aways? We extend drives and score when we throw the ball on early downs, while we go 3-and-out and punt much more often when we run on early downs.

And I'm pretty sure this is one of the reasons why Coley is out and Kirby hired 3 guys (Luke, Monken, & Faulkner) who have all run offenses that balance out the passing and running, and use the passing to open the run.
