Joe ran a 4.55 at the combine which just adds to everyone's point about how rare 4.4 and below is.
I will say Joe was very good at getting every bit of the speed he had out on the field. There is a difference in pure 40 time and how fast you can be with full pads and having to change direction every few seconds.

I was gonna say, all I remember is that play Joe Adams made against Auburn where he hurdled a guy down the sideline then beat everyone 80 yards down the field. If that's 4.55 then frick 4.4.

It also speaks to how insanely fast McFadden and Matt Jones were.
