Because things cant change from year to year?
UGA went 8-5 in 2016 losing to UF, UT, Ole Miss, Vandy and Tech.
2017 they won the SEC and made it to the playoffs
Does that make your fans who predicted a SEC championship in 2017 "ignorant or willfully stupid" since they were coming off an 8-5 season?
You, don't be stupid.

UGA also had elite talent and the #3 ranked class the year before the playoffs. Tennessee has good talent but I wouldn't call it elite.

Its all youve got to hang on to at this point. Sad, really. Ill gladly take having the better program.

We screwed a game up. It happens. O lost to Troy, Saban lost to ULL, Stoops loses to UT every year
Posted on 1/20/20 at 2:42 pm to VFL1800FPD
Tennessee was like 3 plays away from 10 wins this season. Almost beat Bama.

So UT = ULL = Troy = Georgia State. Got it.

Tenner will start the season 2-2.

Definitely could happen. Wouldn't take us out of the running in the east though. It would make it tougher certainly.

What's Mark Stoops record vs UT?
1-6?
I think I speak for most UT fans when I say that we feel positive about the direction the Defense is heading in under Pruitt (Expecting to finish Top 15-25 this year), but there are major uncertainties on offense due to the unknown surrounding the QB situation + Jennings and Calloway graduating.
Personally I think the East, as of this moment, can be broken down to:
1. UGA/UF (Battling for The East with expectations to battle for the SEC)
2. UT/UK (The 2 teams with the best chance of knocking off one of the teams ahead of them and hoping to climb into the next tier)
3. SC/Mizz (Unsure of what to expect from these 2 in year 5 of Muschamp and year 1 of Drink)
4. Vanderbilt
1-6?

So what's your excuse for repeatedly getting your brains beat in year after year, decade after decade, to a team that lost to Georgia State?

Tennessee gets Florida at home and despite the fact UF fans are convinced they’re going undefeated that game is going to be trouble. Tennessee will compete for the East.

-says they have better program
-lost head to head
-finished with worse record
-fewer conference wins
-got bumped from bowl pick because of worse record
-only 2-8 against Tennessee during worst period in Tennessee history
Better program. Lol. Whatever helps you sleep better.

Brains beat in, eh?
Did you watch the game this year? You may have won, but you certainly didn't beat anyone's brains in.
I won't make excuses for it. For the last couple of decades, UT has placed great priority in their facilities and coaches and that made it a desirable place for top talent to come play at. Kentucky on the other hand, just made that financial commitment this decade. Since then, we've be a program on the rise, with top-level talent now taking notice.
All I'm saying in this thread is why is Tennessee in any better position to supplant Florida or Georgia than Kentucky is? Yes, historically, Tennessee has been there before. But Kentucky finished second in the east as recently as two seasons ago and returns many of the same players.
I think its foolish to think Tennessee or Kentucky should expect anything. We may get fortunate with some upsets that put us in the conversation but no reason to think Tennessee is in any better position to do that than Kentucky.
