Big game for both teams. I feel like Georgia needs to get to 19 wins to have a good chance at the tournament. Picking up a road conference win would be big. Should be a tight game.

- Georgia will travel to Starkville on Saturday evening to face Mississippi State in a matchup of the SEC’s Bulldogs.
- The contest is part of the Georgia’s grueling stretch to open SEC play against six straight teams that earned NCAA Tournament bids last spring Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Kentucky (again) and Ole Miss.
- Georgia is 11-5 overall, 1-2 in SEC play (with losses to No. 14 Kentucky and No. 5 Auburn) and 9-1 at Stegeman Coliseum this season. The Bulldogs are coming off an impressive 80-63 victory over Tennessee on Wednesday. Georgia used a 26-7 run midway through the first half to blow the game open and never allowed the Vols closer than 16 points after halftime.
- Anthony Edwards, a pre and mid-season All-American and leading National Freshman of the Year candidate, is the nation’s top scoring freshman at 19.1 ppg. Edwards is the only freshman ranked among the top-50 scorers in the country at No. 47. Rayshaun Hammonds is the SEC’s third-leading rebounder (8.5 rpg) and also ranks No. 14 in scoring (14.1 ppg).
- Fans have been flocking to Stegeman this season. The current 9,429 average is on pace to be the second-best effort in school history(trailing only 9,857 in 2002-03). Considering five of the Bulldogs’ seven remaining SEC home dates already are sellouts, Georgia could approach a school-record mark by season’s end.
