That makes Smart’s bonus go to $550k this year I believe .
$200k Top 5 finish
$150 SEC East
$200K New Year’s 6 Bowl
Did I miss any?

-$600k for horrendous offense that cost us more ...

I don't think this is true.

Pretty sure Jimmy wouldn't negotiate that in the deal.

You don't think sarcasm is true?

I’ll take it. Now, fire Coley.

That said, wonder how much Kirby lost as a net by not winning the sec, making the playoffs, and winning the title. I would guess 7 figures...

My numbers may be a tad wrong. I believe they negotiated down some of the incentives. Total possible incentive is just shy of $1M. Most of which is field performance based. He gets a relatively small bonus for coach of the year and for academic performance

In addition, Smart's bonus opportunities were modified. If Georgia plays in or wins the SEC Championship, Smart will earn less money than before. Last season, Smart made $400,000 since the Bulldogs won the conference. His contract now will earn him $225,000 for winning the SEC. If his team wins the SEC East but is unable to win the conference, he will make $100,000 as opposed to the $150,000 that was in his contract previously.
Advancing to the College Football Playoff will also net slightly less of a bonus but not by much. Before, a New Year's Six bowl game appearance was worth $200,000, a semifinal berth was worth $500,000, a championship appearance was $600,000 and a national title win was $1 million.
Now, the totals are $175,000 for a New Year's Six appearance, $250,000 for a semifinal berth, $500,000 for a semifinal berth and $700,000 for a national title victory.
Smart's maximum performance bonus total went from $1.6 million to $925,000.
Smart will still see a $50,000 bonus if he is named a national coach of the year, but it now must include one of the following prefixes: Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association, Paul "Bear" Bryant, Walter Camp and Home Depot. Smart could now see a $75,000 bonus instead of $50,000 if his team finishes in the top 33 percent of the SEC in both Graduation Success Rate and Academic Progress Rate.
Looks like final ranking doesn't exist anymore as a bonus? So just the $100k for East and $175k for the NY6 bowl.

They struggled too much with Michigan and lost to Auburn, frick them.

That's too bad. Maybe they should have beaten Auburn.

Started #3, finished #4, and beat #6, #12, #13, and #14 in the final rankings.
Not bad.
Not bad.

Most frustrating 12 win season of my life.

Would it have been any better to have been the most frustrating 13 win season of your life if we hadn't lost to South Carolina? If the playoffs showed us anything it was that LSU caught lightning in a bottle and was likely going to win it all this year pretty much no matter what once they got past Tua and Alabama.
Just no reason getting bent out of shape over it.

I'm not really bent out of shape about it. Just reflecting.
Most of my frustration this season stems from that piece of shite offense we had.
And if we beat USCe we probably go to the CFP regardless of the SECCG outcome.
Yes LSU would ultimately win it but going to the CFP would make it a little more tolerable.

I don't think we would have gone. OU won their conference and I don't see us getting the nod after getting dominated like we did. But we are a better team than OU.

Playoffs was my minimum threshold for a successful season so yes.

Amazing. Most of you don’t seem to realize how quickly we could be 9-3 for the next few years - its a fine line.
Sick of the entitlement .. one of the best seasons we have had and a lot to look forward to.
I for one enjoyed the shite out of that season and our defense especially
