And if we beat USCe we probably go to the CFP regardless of the SECCG outcome.

Don't think this would have been the case. 1) as mentioned OU won their conference. 2) because of three undefeated teams, unlikely that they would have jumped us over Clemson for the 3 spot meaning an immediate rematch with LSU...

Instead of finishing fourth we likely finish outside the top 5 in that scenario if we take two thrashings from that O.

We had fans who thought we belonged in the playoff over OU or Notre Dame last season, so I can’t blame them as much for having outliers. Most responses seem reasonable to me.

Most frustrating 12 win season of my life.

Spoken like someone who wasn't around for the 1980 "natty". Most UGA fans seem to think that winning a national championship brings a state of enlightenment and nirvana. I can only speak for myself, but the product on the field during 2017-2019 was much more enjoyable than anything that happened in 1980 and subsequent seasons.

I've done my share of complaining in recent years, but this year's offense was very entertaining compared to 1980, which was Herschel Walker, one play by Lindsay Scott, and not much else. The '80-'81 championship game (Sugar Bowl) was painful to watch.

I’m an outlier on the Dooley era. I was in school for the 80-83 run and well remember the sentiment of fans — ecstatic over Walker and the defense/Erk; WTF over the balance of the offense. GA eked out a ton of wins in what should have been blow outs. Dooley, in my opinion, had little to no imagination as an offensive coach. I believe we won in 80 despite Dooley. I saw Buck play multiple times in HS. I thought he was a better HS player. Dooley as much as admitted he placed his best players on defense, see Terry Hoage. Weird era. Dooley was a better coach early in his career. The 70’s were dog shite interspersed with an occasional great year.

I agree. Dooley gets a lot of credit for having Walker on the team. I see it sort of like '10 Auburn with Cam. You have a generational player and a decent supporting cast (defense, for UGA in '80) get you a championship but then struggle when that player isn't there any longer to carry the team.

I remember during an interview after a loss to Clemson 1981, Dooley said because Herschel left early was a reason they lost the game.
