Major respect for LSU...

I know some of you are baiting Bama fans this morning but you're getting nothing but respect from this one.
Burrow just had easily the greatest individual season a player has ever had at least in my 45 years on earth. The only other individual player I can ever remember having anywhere close to as good a season was Cam in 2010 and as great as he was that year he didn't have near the historic numbers Burrow did.
I also think you could make the case that LSU has had arguably the two greatest regular season runs in modern college football history with this season's run and their 2011 regular season run.
I still think LSU's 2011 regular season run is the greatest regular season run a team has ever had with 3 non-conference wins against teams who won their conference and a road win against #1 ranked Alabama at the time. It was just unfortunate that LSU and Alabama were far and away the two best teams that year which led to LSU having to beat Alabama twice to win it all that year.
All in all I was happy for Coach O and Burrow. Got to give credit to Coach O for making the brilliant move to hire Joe Brady and for Burrow to stick it out after being overlooked for the starting job by his dream team Ohio State and pushing forward and making the absolute most of his second and last chance with LSU. Burrow seems like a decent guy and it's pretty cool to see a guy go from a 4th round pick to start the year to the overall #1 pick getting to play for what is basically his hometown team the Cincinnati Bengals.
There is likely to be at least a bit of a dropoff next year losing such a special QB but the recruiting boost this season will provide LSU the next couple of classes will guarantee LSU stays on a very high level the next few years. Only thing that sucks for next year is that Bama should be considerably better on defense and the offense isn't going to drop off much at all with a stout o-line, Smith, Waddle, Najee, Sanders, Forristal, Mechie, and avery capable Mac Jones at qb all returning next season. Not to mention the fact that Florida will likely be much better, A&M will only get better, and Auburn should be solid as well next year too.
This national title does put LSU squarely at #2 in the SEC pecking order ahead of Florida this century though.

Not trying to kiss y'alls arse or patronize you this morning but I pulled for y'all against Texas early this season and against Oklahoma and Clemson during the playoffs and did so to the dismay of my brother and sister in law. Both of them are Bama grads who live in NOLA and have to put up with a lot of anti-Bama s### from their LSU co-workers and neighbors so I get where some of their animosity but I don't have to live in the belly of the beast like they do and have never had an issue with LSU or LSU fans so last night was all good with me.

So much to take in with that picture. Last time he’ll ever wear that uniform. Goal achieved. Finest hour. Rare that’s captured in a picture.

As it should be. I'd take a natty title any day if it means having to deal with a "drop off" the following season ??
P.S. I'll even take it a step farther. As an equally big Alabama basketball fan as I am a football fan, I'll trade fornor accept a couple of "drop off" non-playoff football seasons in a row in exchange for a Final 4 run in basketball. Not afraid to admit I was and am jealous as hell of Auburn's Final 4 run and their success in basketball this year. A Final 4 run is the only remaining bucket list item for me as an Alabama fan...lol

Classy OP. I don’t think I’ll ever see another qb the likes of Burrow ever again in my lifetime. It’s sad I won’t get to see him in purple and gold next year, but we were blessed that he came to Baton Rouge. Hail LSU and the SEC

Saban made a statement last night about how it could be a distraction for the LSU team playing in NOLA. He mentioned the 2012 Championship. Nothing earth shattering but I think we have all heard the stories of players partying it up the night before the game.
They figured we beat Alabama once and we for sure can do it again in our back yard. That's the difference between the 2011 Miles team and this years Coach O's team.

It was an historic season that finally erases the memories from the end of the 2011 season. Ending Bama home streak and Clemson 29 game win streak!
It makes me appreciate Saban even more now that the monkey is off LSU's back.
Saban will be inducted in LA Sports Hall of Fame this summer and he deserves it.
I may never see a season like this the rest of my life so I plan on savoring it.
SEC landscape has already changed in the past month.
New hires at Ark, Ole Miss and Miss St should be fun.
Saban won't coach forever.
Fla and Tenn look to be improving and should start to challenge UGA for the east.
SEC football is passion and despite all the back and forth banter, it's fun and provides entertainment with the level of competition in this conference week in and week out.
Witnessing the best LSU QB ever has been truly amazing!

More people like you around the country would be great. Govt tide. I pull for Bama, when it has no affect on us. Now we may start one of the best rivalries in college football history, now that we have swagger again .

It should have been a split National Title in 2011. In the old AP - UPI days, it would have been.
