I’m sure LSU doesn’t mind the student ticket revenue, but compared to every other revenue source, it’s pennies.
Student sections at large schools aren’t large enough to seat the entire student body. Charging for tickets serves a similar purpose to TAF priority points.
When I was an undergrad, some schools gave preference to upperclassmen for student tickets, so frosh and sophs were excluded. I don’t know if charging for tickets has replaced that.
