They also are doing significantly better job of utilizing RB in their passing attack both in routes + check down passes.

I love how they used CEH out of the backfield. A lot of plays are just option routes for him on a LB where he can go any direction.

I mentioned this awhile back but I have some good friends that are connected via coaching with Chip Lindsey. Supposedly Gus doesn't believe in option routes

When they explained it to me, there is some logic to the argument. So first, there are 3 basic posits that seem reasoanble

#1 Every defensive playcall / coverage has weaknesses

#2 If you know the defensive play call & coverage, the offensive play caller can call a play to exploit the weakness

#3 Off Playcallers can identify D playcalls through extensive game preparation, film study and analysis of opponent tendencies

Based on the above 3 assumptions, there is no reason to call an 'option route.' If you know the defense, you know the 'correct option' so why not just call that route?

This thinking isn't uncommon amongst many good offensive coaches. Baylor WR under Art Briles used to acknowledge they took plays off as a fatigue strategy as they knew their route wasn't being thrown
